Indak (Live at Route 196 - 21, May 2011)
LYRICS:
Tatakbo at gagalaw
Mag-iisip kung dapat bang bumitaw
Kulang na lang, atakihin
Ang pag-hinga’y nabibitin
Ang dahilan na alam mo na
Kahit ano pang sabihin nila
Pipikit na lamang at mag-sasayaw
Habang nanonood siya…
Paalis at pabalik
May baong yakap at suklian ng halik
Mag-papaalam at mag-sisisi

When grades-as-incentives encourage gamesmanship instead of excellence there is another way that this corrodes learning. A student out to maximize her grade point average is tempted to choose the easiest courses, those with the least challenge and work, or those with the “easy-grader” professors… Pressure mounts as graduation approaches and students vie for high rankings and honors. Do I want to risk the summa cum laude by taking that tough physics or philosophy course?
…
We all learn from our mistakes, but we can’t learn from mistakes that we don’t know we’re making. The trick is to focus on the feedback function of grades more (“Are my grades telling students what they need to know about their performance?”) and the instrumental function of grades less.
Dear friends,
It’s monstrous — thousands of Ugandans could face the death penalty — just for being gay. On Wednesday, Parliament may pass a law that punishes homosexuality with death – we have 48 hours to act.
We’ve stopped this bill before, and we can do it again. Ugandan…
One night during holy week, my siblings and I stayed at our grandparents’ place, while mother attended a reunion. As we were watching TV, our lola, suffering from dementia, came out from their room and was shocked to find 7 “strangers” in her house in the middle of the night. Instead of asking us who we are, she asked us where we would be spending the night. She even barged in the other room and woke up the sleeping helper to guarantee that we would have a room to sleep in. Her caring nature GMH.

Happy 92nd Birthday, Lola Rosario “Charing” De Asis Panahon!
I love you, even though you may not remember nor recognize me anymore.
i remember, back in 4th yr high school, when we were choosing which university to go to for college, i asked my friend, Mayee, and myself a similar question…
“would you rather be an honor/excelling student in (insert other universities here) or be an average student in the best university in the country?”
we both chose the latter, for reasons that are too numerous to enumerate in this post.
